BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL, exp.

In a difficult position, in a predicament (e.g. I'm behind the eight ball with the Tax Department. I deducted college tuition fees from my taxable income, but I didn't pay the fees!)

Alphabet card #12

Fri, 12 Apr 2013 09:37:14 GMT

The last one in my collection comes from _wwwera_, an early birthday gift. The card originates from Holland. Thanks Vera, it only makes me realize that there must be a couple more alphabet designs that I need to locate :)

List of forbidden countries for mail.

List of forbidden countries for mail, a photo by WildernessCat on Flickr.

After long deliberations, the Israeli Post finally came up with a list of countries that we're not supposed to mail to. Not many surprises there, except for one: Algeria. I have already managed to send them postcards, with various degrees of success. So as usual, the guiding principle is "don't worry, it's gonna be fine".

50 Agorot Stamps.

50 Agorot Stamps, a photo by WildernessCat on Flickr.

Got a whole bunch of new stamps for Postcrossing. The total sum for a card is 3.50 NIS, but the 3 NIS stamps were pretty boring. The .50 NIS ones, however left me stunned. I never knew there were so many of them!

How postcards are made.

Thu, 21 Feb 2013 08:03:42 GMT

Sent this nice free card via Postcrossing the other day, never thinking much about it. The text says "is it not good for a person to be alone?". I don't know what the interrogative form is doing there, but I suppose it has some special meaning for the ad on the other side (which I simply covered with a white sticker). After the card arrived, I became curious about the origin of this image, and fed it into Google's Image Search. What do you reckon? The man is not alone at all :)

Eclipse going crazy on me.

Tue, 19 Feb 2013 12:00:33 GMT

Since I have all these programmers on my friends list, this should be appropriate here. So I work with Eclipse, and I decide I want to restart my work. All my changes - I want them gone, back to repository version. So I do right-click, "team", "revert". Okay? I press "okay". Then Eclipse detects something weird has happened. "The file has changed on disk. Do you want to load the new version?". Like ... yes? Please?
