More language ramblings.

Here is something peculiar I noticed about the word "earth". (Sorry Auli, you heard this before ;-)

English: earth
German: erde
Dutch: aarde
Swedish, Nowregian, Danish: jord
Arabic: أَرْض [ard]
Hebrew: ארץ [erets]

.. but then I got stuck with the Latin-derived languages. Terre? Terra? Tierra? And then it struck me! "Terra" is "earth" in reverse!

One more Dutch snippet.

Do you know the warning they print on cigarette packs? "Cigarette Smoking Is Dangerous to Health ... " etc? On cigarettes sold in Holland it looks like this: "Roken is dodelijk". What is there not to understand? Reeking (of tobacco smoke) (renders you) dead-like...
