Jean-François Millet vs. Vincent van Gogh
Oct. 24th, 2006 01:56 pmOver the period of three months, from late 1889 to early 1890, in while in the asylum at Saint-Rémy, Van Gogh did 21 copies of Millet's works. These copies are both an homage to Millet as well as Vincent's attempt to further expand his own style. While Van Gogh greatly admired Millet, he felt his copies made in Saint-Rémy had a great deal of his own unique sentiments.

Ars longa, vita brevis.
Aug. 29th, 2006 08:48 pmTwo more artsy sites for your enjoyment.
- There's a dude who finger-paints on dirty cars' windshields. Wish I could do that. This country has so many beautiful canvases.
- This other dude creates real delicate sculptures from plain white A4 paper. Now this really takes some patience and precision.

A friend sent me a PowerPoint presentation featuring some pretty neat fork scultpures. I wasn't lazy, and searched the net. The obvious Fork Art website was it. Looks like someone's grandmother bequeathed him all the forks in the house :)Bulls in Tel-Aviv.
Jan. 6th, 2006 05:35 pmThere are quite a few pieces of art in Tel-Aviv's open spaces (sculptures, murals). Several years ago a new conecpt was tried: A couple of hundred penguin figures, larger than nature, were molded from plastic materials and given to volunteer artists. Those added colors, ideas, objects, etc., everyone at his/her fantasy and concept. The results were displayed in the streets of Tel-Aviv for a few months. Then the figures were auctioned and the proceedings donated to noble causes.
It was a big success, so dolphins followed. Now it is bulls, nearly full size. Please take a look.
