I've been reading those silly articles (such as this one) about prevention of suicide bombings by hanging bags with pork fat in public transportation. This is totally ludicrous, of course, because they'll just adjust their Islamic teachings to make the pork harmless.
However, we do need some temporary relief to the problem, something that'll make our life safer until the conflict's essence is addressed. What I've been thinking of, is some kind of electronic device that'll trigger the explosives remotely. Imagine every bus station (restaurant, mall entrance, whatever) equipped with some sort of emitter, that every 5 seconds emits a beam of .. something .. that makes explosives go off in a radius of 100 meters. I'm sure such a device exists, but maybe it has some adverse side effects (like stopping pacemakers, or whatever). I wonder, how far are we technologically, from realizing something of that sort?
