Went to see
The Da Vinci Code at Cinema City with the missus on the weekend. After having read the book it was a bit of a letdown. The movie procedes at a crazy pace, trying to cover every scene, making shortcuts on the way, not having time to develop the characters, and cramming the entire plot into two and a half hours. A few subtle innuendoes from the book were spelled out for the American viewers, so they lost some of their charm. In short, if you've read the book, skip the movie.
One nice trick I liked though, was the opening crime scene. I wondered - how are they gonna show Jacques Saunière lying on his back completely naked? Well, they pointed a floodlight smack in the middle of his body, rendering that area burnt out on film. That way they kept true to the book (thank you for at least that one!) and remained within the limits of "decency". Good thinking.
