Taking part in the Elections
Feb. 1st, 2003 08:45 amI've been thinking about this whole election thing, and I got to the conclusion that it's really stupid not to vote. Okay, so you say "I don't like any of those nincompoops in the lists, so I don't care who gets elected". Wrong! Even if you don't like any of those people, there are certainly some people that you dislike, right? Suppose that you're a secular Jew (like most people I know). If you don't vote for a secular Jewish party, then you're actively playing into the hands of the Orthodox and the Arabs. (BTW, the participation ratio of the former in the elections is higher than the rest of the population).
So next time elections come to town, take the trouble of getting to your local school, pick any Jewish secular list that has a chance of making it, and vote!
