Brit Sidenotes.

Yesterday, at Shachar's brit, we first saw uncle Nachman's new Toyota Prius, a hybrid car that runs alternately on electricity and regular gas. The car has two engines, and automatically switches from electricity to gas whenever it goes faster than 60 km/h, or whenever the battery needs charging. This effectively means, that in short city rides, the electrical engine does all the work. The car is frighteningly quiet, and it seems like it's going with its engine turned off! The only sound you can hear, is the quiet murmur of the airconditioning. Of course, the car is very low on gas consumption and everything, but the silent operation made me think of its usefulness in police work and such. Imagine a bunch of detectives secretly closing in on a group of suspects in the dead of night...

The other interesting "feature" (if you can call it that) of the brit, was my father-in-law's twin brother. He usually resides in the States and we rarely see him here. He's a spitting image of Yahel's grandpa, and at first the kid didn't know who is who. When he noticed that he speaks the same way, makes the same faces, and plays football the same way, he started calling him "the man that is like grandpa Eli". Despite all our explanations, he probably still thinks that his grandfather got himself replicated for one day, and then magically reduced himself back to being just one person.
