Went to see "Robots" in Kfar Yona with Yahelchik yesterday. What a fine little film. It's a pity we only saw the first 50 minutes of it (Yahel got restless and wanted to leave), but from what I saw, I'd definitely want to get it on video. If you're technically inclined, you'll love the multitude of mechanisms at work all through the picture: magnets, springs, motors, axles, wheels, propellors all work together in Swiss clock precision. Lots of jokes on the way how people perceive robots (e.g. one robot doing the "moonwalk dance"). The Hebrew translation allso has its merits - one old robot says to the other "?מתי תתברג כבר", but I guess most of the audience in Kfar Yona didn't even notice. Bottom line - time to raid the DVD machines.

In view of the Hanukka holiday at the end of the month, and especially for [livejournal.com profile] raisinlike, I present to you: the Menorah Song. Oy! Oy! Oy!

Did you notice how the word "compassion" (חמלה) became fashionable lately? Even Bibi (!) started using it with the same ease as good old "peace" and "security".
