There are a couple of strange things about American money. Why on earth is the dime (10 cents) smaller than a nickel (5 cents)? I mean, shouldn't the coins be sized according to their value? And why don't they have dollar coins? In Israel there's a 5 sheqel and a 10 sheqel coin, which are both worth more than a dollar. And last but not least ([livejournal.com profile] gera is gonna get me for that one), why are all the bills green?

It's cool how American restaurants handle lines. Suppose you come for dinner, and there's no free table available. They'll take down your name and give you a special beeper that you can carry around, even outside the restaurant. When you turn comes, the beeper lights up, vibrates, and plays a tune of some kind. That way you don't have to hang at the entrace and wait for your name to be called out. And they'll have a whole lot of those beepers available. That's pretty neat.
