Change of Atmosphere
Went to the ping-pong tournament at the OpenU yesterday. I hadn't set my hopes too high, but I wasn't prepared for this. 25 guys showed up, of which only 5 were amateurs. All the rest were league players of different sorts. In short, I didn't have a snowball's chance in hell. I still had my 4 games to play, so I said - why not? At least I'd have some sort of a workout.

My first game was with an amateur slightly weaker than me. I barely won, at 2:1, and I was happy as a box of birds. The next game was with a more advanced amateur, so to my dismay I lost 2:0. The third game was with the last year's champion (oh my goodness). I was lucky enough to win at least 3 or 4 points. The last game was also with a professional, who started toying with me like a dog that found a slow beetle on the ground. That was pretty humiliating. After the last game I approached the administrator and asked if I was free to go home. He looked at the scores, and said "yup, you're good to go". Wrapped up the whole thing in 2 hours, and still had time to pick the kids from school :)
