I passed by this house in Beit Yitzhak a hundred times, but never stopped to take a picture. Now I finally took that snapshot. The peculiar thing about that house is its roof. Slanted southwards, it is completely covered with photoelectric cells. The whole issue of generating electric energy this way is pretty controversial. According to Israeli law, you cannot supply the energy to your house directly. You first have to sell it to the electric company, and then buy it back at a cheaper price. The difference is the profit that you make from this deal. Some people say it's problematic, and the money you save is minimal. Some say it is only good for very large roofs. In any case, the monstrosity on top of your house will surely make you the center of town's attention. Photo cells in Beit Yitzhak
