Quick search.
Apr. 18th, 2012 06:41 amA story told by my colleague Yuri, who is originally from Moldova. A few years ago he was visiting some family back in Moldova, and was going through the routine checks upon entering the country at the international airport. The checks were very thorough - the man at the customs insisted on opening every suitcase, handbag, and package, and inspecting everything by hand. The checks had been in progress for over 20 minutes, when the customs man suddenly proposed - "would you like to switch to the quick search procedure"? Yuri said he had all the time in the world, and refused to give in to the obvious extortion attempt. After another 15 minutes of fruitless checking the man proposed again "are you sure you don't want the quick procedure"? At this point Yuri said, "no, thank you, but look at all these people standing in line, maybe some of them might be interested". At that point Yuri's idea was accepted, and the check was successfully concluded.
