I am currently on the final stretch of preparations for my Black Belt Ju Jitsu exam. The culmination of 5 year's work and the pressure is tremendous. I have doubled and tripled my lessons lately and this is really starting to show its signs on the body. (A 32-y/o man of average shape isn't well designed for such abuse, but I guess I'll survive ;-) Holding my fingers crossed, that everything goes smoothly during the exam itself (July 14th). We have to show theoretical knowledge, technical profficiency and physical stamina as well. Our sensei hinted that if we display appropriate "combat spirit" during the exam, small mistakes shall be overlooked. I am counting on it :)

P.S: If you ever browsed through martial arts' syllabi, you may have noticed a multitude of weird Japanese names. Well, these are simply word-for-word translations of basic techniques, such as Side Kick ("mawashi geri"), Neck Throw ("kubi nage"), Body Drop ("tai otoshi") etc.

Hip Throw ("ogoshi")
