Security my butt.
May. 8th, 2003 08:56 amEvery other morning the Israeli police decides that the Sharon area is "hot" (swarming with suicide bombers), so they decide to do something about it. What's the first thing they do? - Block the road from Kfar Yona to Netanya. Instead of a wide two-lane inter-city road it becomes a narrow one-lane path. Policemen stand on both sides of the road-block and inspect the faces (?) of all car drivers that pass through the zigzag they created. The result of this "efficient" security measure is a long long line of cars standing in the blazing morning sun, waiting for their turn to squeeze into the road-block and on to the big city.
I need to pass through that road almost every day. What do I do? Simple. I hear about the road-block from the missus (who goes out earlier), or on the radio ("a huge traffic jam on road 57") and take an alternative route through the country-side roads. It's a longer way and it takes a good half an hour, but at least I don't stand in the jam, and I never see a single policeman at any point of the way!
Do they think the terrorists are stupid? Do they think that Israeli public is stupid? What's this all for, for crying out loud?!
