In our family there's an old custom related to traveling. It is called "sit down for the road" and is probably adopted from some old Russian tradition. The point is, that before you get out of the house for a long journey (such as a flight abroad), everyone present must sit down comfrtably, keep absolutely silent for a minute and think about the trip. It does wonders for forgotten passports, credit cards, and flight tickets. The missus says it's silly, but I believe it makes a lot of sense. What strange customs do you have in your family?
