Yesterday as I was going to Netanya, I saw a car with a bumper sticker that said:
אין מצב שאתגייס
לצבא הגירוש לישראל

which losely translates as "there's no way I'm getting drafted to the Israeli Deportation Forces".

Okay, so he's mad about the Disengagement Program, but doesn't this constitute incitement to dodge the draft (i.e. break the law)? Unless you claim that the above mentioned organization does not exist, but that's playing it dumb.

I go fixing things around the house and nobody does as little as say thank you. The aluminum windows that haven't latched for ages are now in perfect working order. The mixing tap in the kitchen, that used to operate in annoying little jerks now runs smoothly thanks to some well placed lubricant. It's those little things that make life easier, n'est-ce pas?

Dad was really bitten by the old-Tallinn bug :) He scanned two images from a book he has, to show what the city had looked like in the beginning of the 20th century. The first one is from Viru street, taken in 1900, and it contains no elements familiar to me, except for the tall churches in the background. As for the second one, it's named "Uus Turg" (the New Marketplace) and it was taken in 1933. This photo actually has the house where I lived in as a child! See that grey blocky thing in the top left corner? This is it. As for the big building in the foreground, it's long gone. No trace of it, as far as I know.
