Last time we went to IKEA to get furniture for our kitchen, there was one part missing from their inventory. We got all the parts of the cabinet, but one - the top door. The salesperson told us to check their website for the availability of the missing part. I asked whether it was possible to be notified when the part arrives, and he said no, they don't support that. So I say here's a simple application for you: run a background process that periodically connect to the IKEA website, checks the part (or parts) in question, and pops up a message box when the part is in stock. I wonder if anyone thought of it before.

BTW - the part is still missing. Over a week.

At thought it was a hoax, but now understand it's quite real - the Home Center chain of do-it-yourself stores will give you a discount if you're an Arab. I wonder how they determine your ethnicity - do they ask to see your ID, or just make an educated guess? I wonder what'll come next - discounts for Russians, Ethiopians, gay people, redheads, left-handed people, people who voted for the Pensioners party?
