One of the most useful gadgets I got lately is something called a "Auto Lighter USB power adapter". It plugs into a standard car lighter socket, and provides a female USB socket on the other side. I got it by chance, as part of a Blue Tooth hands-free device, for charging purposes. Later I discovered how useful the little thingie is. Basically, it can charge anything that has a battery and a USB interface, including my mobile phone, and my MP3 player. No more getting stuck with a dead phone or no audio-books in a traffic jam. Costs pennies.
