Since their establishment in the 70s, the people at kibbutz Merom Golan have tried planting all imaginable type of tree on their premises. Some have died, but some have done surprisingly well. For instance, you can find birch trees (just like in Estonia) or giant sequoia redwoods (like in California). We visited the kibbutz on the weekend, for one of their "fall tours". The tour guide walks the group along the paths, shows the fall colors, and gives basic background about the different plants. The variety is quite impressive.
