On Vox: Waltz with Bashir.
Jan. 25th, 2009 01:37 pmSaw the movie the other night. My sister-in-law warned me that it has leftist motives, but I don't agree. It's definitely pacifistic in nature, and gives a glimpse into the insane nature of the first war in Lebanon. People are disoriented. They are overconfident one moment, and totally lost a moment later. Lots of surrealistic scenes, for example when Israeli dead and wounded soldiers are treated as one pile that needs to be dumped somewhere, so they can be treated. The only thing that got on my nerves was the sound quality. Some of the characters mumble sentences that are completely incomprehensible. Maybe subtitles would come in handy. All in all, worth watching.
