I can't stand the mass media!

Why is it that all the sources of information say exactly the same thing at the same time? It doesn't matter if I open a morning newspaper, or turn on the TV, or listen to the radio, or read the news on the internet - I get exactly the same facts in exactly the same order! (I am not talking about the extreme right or the extreme left media, but the mainstream stuff). Who decides what is the "hot issue of the moment"? Did all the news editors go to the same school of journalism that supplied them with some uniform "importance meter"? Where is the pluralism, the multitude of opinions?

And what about the nature of information itself? We are being fed the so called "facts" with a spoon, without any possibility to exercise our own judgement. "The driver Sagi Unger stole 7 million sheqels from the Brinks truck". Is it really his name? Did he really steal the money? Was it really 7 million? Maybe he was kidnapped? Maybe he was threatened? What can he possibly do with millions of sheqels without being spotted? Nobody cares. No matter where you check, they are "Mr-know-it-all". Why can't you at least say "possibly stole", "allegedly escaped" etc.?

"The Israeli Arab didn't obey the soldiers at the roadblock, tried to run over them and got shot in the head". It became a cliché. How did the soldiers try to stop him? What did they say to him? What was his reponse? Who decided it was a run-over attempt? Are you sure the soldiers weren't just trigger happy newbies? Or the other way around - did they have a chance to try and stop him at all? At what speed was he approaching? Did his car match the description of someone on a "wanted" list? Again, nobody cares.

To summarize - I think most media sources are manned by liars, idiots, opportunists, nonimaginative ass kissers and plain nincompoops.

Oh please tell me, do you have a "sane" source of news? Something less scoop-searching, less sensation-hungry, less yellow, less standard, more serious, more cautious, more in-depth kind of thing?
