Mar. 10th, 2010 08:28 amSomeone at work started a mail thread with a huge audience (hundreds of people by my estimation), which doesn't interest most of them. Now, some people hit "reply all" and write "take me off the list". Another dozen emails. Next step people start hitting "reply all" and writing "don't just hit reply-all"! Another dozen. Some hit "recall" - more emails. Some technical expert dude promised a fine of $100 to anyone who replies on the thread, and a $500 fine to the originator. Nobody cares. Then come more reply-alls with "leave me out of the loop please, my mailbox can't take it any longer".
Now there's a new mail thread called "email storm" that discusses the issue. It also uses "reply all" as a favorite means of propagation.
